陶器，幾千年來，仍在我們生活中扮演重要的角色，即使是現在，從早晨起床的一杯咖啡、中午吃裝餐的碗盤、下午茶的茶具、到晚上在市區餐廳用餐的高級餐盤，都可以是由陶瓷做成的器物。

 

For thousands of years, pottery has played a significant role in our lives. Even today, ceramic items are integral to our daily routines, from the morning coffee cup to the bowls and plates used for lunch, the teaware for afternoon tea, and the fine dining plates at upscale restaurants in the evening.

木島接到了一個有趣的訂製案件，陶藝塑形用具。

想起小時候在美勞課，或是有去過陶藝體驗的人或許更有感覺，原本的一坨軟土，塑形之後，入窯燒烤，就可以變成形狀固定的成品。而在塑形的過程中，除了雙手之外，使用工具也是創作；或是幫助創作的方式。像是木家具的製品一樣，陶藝作品也有許多的過程，從拍打泥料、揉土、鑽洞、刮除、塑形、結合…等等，如果有工具的幫忙便可以事半功倍，或是使製程更容易或甚至是品質更好，所謂”工欲善，必先利其器”的道理。

 

Pottery Tools

 

Bokto received an interesting custom order for pottery shaping tools.

Thinking back to childhood art classes or pottery experience workshops, many can recall starting with a lump of soft clay. After shaping it and firing it in a kiln, it transforms into a solid finished product. During the shaping process, in addition to using hands, tools play a crucial role in creation and aid in the artistic process. Just like woodworking, pottery involves multiple stages such as kneading clay, punching holes, scraping, shaping, and assembling. With the help of tools, the process can be more efficient, easier, and even result in higher quality products. The adage “to do a good job, one must first sharpen one’s tools” certainly holds true.

 

 

像是這樣的陶藝塑形工具，本身的質地必須紮實，因此木島團隊全實木材料製作。而既然是屬於陶藝家長期使用的工具，即使是實木材料，樹種的選擇也不馬虎，客戶選用了；紋理細緻的花梨木，有別於一般市場上所能看見的陶藝工具用料。

 

訂製的每一個工具的是師傅純手工製成，經過細緻得成型與打磨。產品完成後，有時還覺得看起來像是什麼藝術擺件的套組，非常可愛。訂製的產品，有木針、壺嘴器、拍板、木雞蛋及斜角切割器，是一組多功能的陶藝工具，由花梨木實木製成。

 

For pottery shaping tools like these, the material needs to be solid and durable. Therefore, the Bokto team uses solid wood for their construction. Given that these tools are meant for long-term use by potters, even the choice of wood species is carefully considered. The client selected finely grained rosewood, setting these tools apart from the typical pottery tools available on the market.

 

Each custom tool is handcrafted by skilled artisans, meticulously shaped and polished. Once completed, these tools sometimes look like a set of artistic ornaments, adding a touch of charm.The custom set includes a variety of tools such as wooden needles, spout shapers, paddles, wooden eggs, and bevel cutters. All of these multifunctional pottery tools are made from solid rosewood, ensuring both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
