History of Bokto

Brand Establishment

Since 2020, Bokto’s furniture products have been designed and manufactured by Minglong Industrial Co., Ltd.

Founded in 1985, Minglong Industrial has decades of furniture manufacturing technology and experience. With its profound professional expertise, the company developed the Bokto furniture line, insisting on using high-quality materials to preserve the original features and texture of the wood, producing furniture that is not only beautiful but also enhances the warmth of life.

Advantages of the Japanese Era

The Fengyuan area in Taichung, benefiting from its rich natural resources, naturally became the birthplace of Taiwan’s woodworking industry. During the Japanese colonial period, the Japanese established three major forestries in Taiwan, including Taipingshan, Basianshan, and Alishan. Located at the foothills of Basianshan, Fengyuan’s train station became a vital hub for timber transportation. This geographical and resource advantage promoted the development of wood processing, woodworking, and furniture manufacturing in the Taichung area. In this environment, Minglong Industrial Co., Ltd. was established.

Industry Exodus; Choosing to Root in Taiwan

In the 1980s, Taiwan’s woodworking industry was experiencing a golden age of exports. However, due to the Taiwanese government’s complete ban on logging natural forests in 1992 and rising labor costs, many Taiwanese wood manufacturers chose to invest in China and Vietnam in the 1990s, seeking lower production costs.

Despite this, Minglong Industrial chose to stay in Taiwan, maintaining its roots in its homeland and continuing to develop the furniture manufacturing industry. This decision highlights the company’s commitment to the local industry and preservation of traditional craftsmanship.

Transformation through Transition

At that time, due to the high costs of mass production in Taiwan compared to mainland China, Taiwan’s industry was at a competitive disadvantage. However, Minglong Industrial shifted its focus to custom orders, successfully carving out a new path.

Since 2000, Minglong Industrial has focused on a production strategy of small quantities and high quality, gradually establishing a solid market position. During this process, the company established partnerships with several Japanese and Western companies, continuously enhancing its manufacturing capabilities and market competitiveness.
