Renovating Old Kitchens

from the 1980s and 1990s

In the kitchens of the 1980s and 1990s, the concept of interior design was not yet widespread. These kitchens were often built by masons using cement as the main material, constructing several key platforms or countertops. Homeowners would place appliances and gas stoves directly on these cement surfaces, a defining characteristic of kitchens from that era.

Traditional Family’s Large Round Table

Traditional families favor large round tables that allow all members to face each other while dining. These tables are typically made from solid oak wood and use mortise and tenon joints, combining aesthetics and functionality.

Rethinking User Needs

Building on the original cement structures, we customize furniture to meet the new demands and the use of new appliances, addressing the needs of modern families.

Renovation Details

  1. Ventilation Design: We designed ventilation openings in the drawer sections and used heavy-duty sliding rails to accommodate dishes and pots, making them easy to access and dry.
  2. Durable Materials: Considering the humid and greasy kitchen environment, we selected durable and stable birch plywood as the main material for the kitchen furniture to ensure longevity.
  3. Special Size Cabinets: Acknowledging the often peculiar sizes of kitchen containers, such as large pots, large wine jars, or pickling jars, we designed safe, heavy-duty, large-sized cabinets to provide appropriate storage space for various household items.

Through these renovations, the old-style kitchen has been revitalized, preserving traditional features while integrating modern design to meet the needs of contemporary families.
