Pine

Introduction

Pine is known for its soft yellow-white hue and distinct, broad grain patterns, making it a lightweight wood. Although it has lower hardness, its excellent breathability and thermal conductivity make it an easy-to-maintain option. Pine is extensively cultivated in places like Brazil, the Americas, Europe, and New Zealand, similar to other softwood species like Douglas fir and spruce.

For those who prefer light-colored wood, pine is a particularly appealing choice due to its affordability and excellent performance. Especially the high-quality pine from New Zealand, which comes from sustainably managed forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The harvesting of these woods is based on decades of planned management. Harvesting is done by region and immediately followed by replanting of new trees, ensuring that each harvesting cycle can reach a state ready for re-harvesting within about twenty years. This cyclical plan not only secures a steady supply of wood but also underscores the value of pine as an environmentally friendly material.
