Introduction
Paulownia is also known as the “Wutong wood” or “Phoenix Tree”. Paulownia originates from Asia, especially from China, Japan, and Taiwan. This type of wood is soft, lightweight, and not very strong, making it unsuitable for main structural components. However, due to its lightness and ease of processing, it is widely used in making back panels, interior parts of drawers, and other non-structural furniture products, as well as for core material in engineered wood. It processes well, suitable for drilling and gluing.
The color of Wutong wood ranges from light yellow to gray-brown, turning grayer upon oxidation, with a somewhat coarse yet uniform texture. The distinction between its sapwood and heartwood is not very clear, giving the wood a more uniform appearance overall.
